What are Dentures & Partials?

Dentures and partials are prosthetic dental appliances that mimic the feel and look of real, natural teeth. Dentures contain a full set of false teeth ideal for patients who are completely missing all of their dentition. Partials are made to be worn around your existing teeth and only replace several teeth that are missing. Both appliances are made to fit comfortably and can last for five to seven years.

Why do you need Dentures & Partials?

Full sets of dentures are necessary for people who are completely missing their teeth. If you have advanced periodontal disease or severe decay, your teeth may be removed prior to the appliance being made for you. Partials are made to contain only a number of teeth that replace what you’re missing. Both options help to restore the fullness and beauty of your smile without the need for more extensive work.

What makes you a good candidate for Dentures & Partials?

An exam and consultation are needed to determine if dentures or partials are right for you. The appliance is ideal for patients who want a removable device that doesn’t require more extensive work. With proper care, you can expect the denture or partial to last up to seven years before needing to be replaced. We can help with replacing or repairing your existing dentures and partials.

What happens during the procedure for Dentures & Partials?

If teeth need to be removed to make room for the denture, this will be done prior to being fitted for the prosthetic. Once your gums have healed, impressions are made and sent to a local dental laboratory. The dentures or partials are made for you and are meant to mimic the look and feel of your natural smile. You will come back into the office to have the denture or partial placed. We will then file down the appliance to create a more uniform and comfortable bite. Be sure to come in for your bi-annual dental appointments for regular check-ups and maintenance.
